It was a full moon night. This was the night when fairies were born. Tonight the garden was preparing for the birth of four special fairies. Out of the heart of the purple zinnia, came Joy. Out of the yellow sunflower, emerged Kindness. And, from the depths of the rose, came Love. It was time for the fourth fairy to be born. Joy, Kindness and Love waited in eager anticipation, circling a petite white jasmine. However, just as the light of the moon was about to touch the flower, a black cloud passed by. The petals unfurled quickly. And, to the shock and horror of the newborn fairies, the ugliest and darkest fairy that they had ever seen lay curled inside. Her face was wrinkled. Her wings were shriveled, and in her eyes, they saw something so strange. Pain. Something that did not live in fairies.

Not knowing what to do, Joy, Kindness and Love set about to spread their gifts on earth. However, in their hearts the agony of not being able to help their sister remained, till one fine day they found a way to help her – with the light of their own beings!
