Some work done by children
FAQ’s

Children are being bombarded with contradictory and harmful stimuli from all sides - social media, movies, cartoons, advertisements along with unwanted exposure to electromagnetic frequencies, genetically modified food and the list is never ending.
While children may not be able to consciously express it, or the effects on them are not palpably visible, emotionally, mentally and physically they are under a lot of stress. In the midst of this inevitable chaos and confusion that the modern world presents, children need stability - apart from the stability that parents provide on a practical every day level, the most enduring stability children can find is present within them. Within all of us lies an untouched space of joy, silence and resilience. When we give our children the means to access this space, we give them the most powerful tools needed to navigate the outer world with all its seeming contradictions. When the anchor within is touched and found, the most difficult outer challenges become surmountable.
Most often in my sessions with children, they starts to express themselves very freely, on paper, through paintings, sometimes through words - in the form of prose, poetry and stories. One can often notice their inner world taking form on paper- the images that come to them, the parts of the story or the poem they deeply resonate with. However, I do not analyse or try to give meaning to their work as I truly believe that by letting them be, I allow an alchemy to occur as needed in the moment.
Alongwith with an unhindered creative expression comes a deep sense of peace, inner strength and relaxation, qualities much needed to bring forth their unique and extraordinary selves into this ever changing world.
A typical story or an art class often has certain academic goals and defined agenda that it seeks to meet. They are all good and have their place and children need guided work to pick up specialised skills as well.
My work, which encompasses storytelling, painting, singing and meditative practices doesn’t seek to impart a skill rather uses these mediums to help children move inward. Most of the resources(stories, poems, songs etc.) that I use in my class are created by me over the across various themes that I feel are much needed for children in the current times that we live in. My work is spontaneous, flows with the children and their needs and yet there is a structure within which this flow happens. If I feel that something I am bringing to the session is not resonating with the child, I quickly shift. Children have a lot of autonomy in my classes and they are constantly and healthily prompted to bring forth their creative impulse without the need for emulation or achieving perfection.
I feel that the children of today are ready for these explorations much more than we adults! In fact, they are waiting for us to realise that, and make the journey ourselves so that it becomes easier for them!
