(Imagined with Florence Casset)

Leo and his mother stumble across a stray kitten on their way back home from the market. While Leo insists that they must help the kitten, Leo’s mother is annoyed and tells Leo they can’t save everyone! Shocked at his mother’s words, Leo is adamant and will not leave without helping this being in need. Can this little boy find a way to help the kitten?

Leo & the Kitten is a story of compassion, truth and standing up for what is right for oneself, whether young or old. It shows us that when we are true to our inner impulse, ideas and solutions arrive and seemingly difficult problems are taken care of with much ease.

HOW TO USE THIS STORY?
Teachers, parents and adults may read aloud this story to children. Alternatively, it may be given to the children to read themselves depending on their abilities. The child, thereafter may be asked to recount or draw their favourite part.

Please feel free to use the story creatively along with art, music, puppets etc., as you are inspired, albeit, without changing or diluting the purity of intent.

HOW THIS STORY CAME TO BE?
Léo & the kitten is directly inspired by my experience. As children, many a time, we feel the need to help and express care for others. More often than not, we do not receive the support to do so from the adults around us. So, we give up and stifle our inner drive and spark. It took me many years to start listening to my spark again and take the risk of standing up and helping stray animals. This story is a message for all children … and adults!

FOR WHOM?
This story is well suited for children (age 6+) and adults.
