(Imagined with Florence Casset)

Autumn is here! Tom’s parents are busy taking care of their apple and pear orchard. Tom wishes to help them by putting the wood in the shed before the rains start. But, the pile of wood is huge. An insurmountable mountain! Tom’s friends arrive. They wish to play with him at the river. But, when they see him with this huge task at hand, they come up with an ingenious idea to help him!

Life does become better when we help each other! Often as we work together, new ways of being and doing emerge and we are able to complete tasks with much more ease than had we done it alone. A Little Help from Friends conveys the beauty of collaborations and the harmony that can unfold as we work in groups in a very joyful and simple way!

HOW TO USE THIS STORY?
Teachers, parents and adults may read aloud this story to children. Alternatively, it may be given to the children to read themselves depending on their abilities. The child, thereafter may be asked to recount or draw their favourite part.

Please feel free to use the story creatively along with art, music, puppets etc., as you are inspired, albeit, without changing or diluting the purity of intent.

HOW THIS STORY CAME TO BE?
A little help from the friends was inspired by my friend, Florence’s life in her community. Just like Tom, she experienced a type of solidarity and collaboration that brings togetherness and joy into our lives. While we imagined this story together, I put it into words.

FOR WHOM?
This story is well suited for children (age 6+) and adults.
