Crochet is a craft that brings balance, focus and coordination into a child’s, thereby creating a quiet space for a child to be with his/her own self. As it involves use of fine-motor skills, hand eye coordination, basic math, it helps the child in their academic life as well. Moreover, as children slowly move through projects, oftentimes the mistakes and glitches teach them patience and perseverance, qualities much needed to walk through life.
The batches are conducted at a pace that meets the need of each child. Children will learn crochet stitches through completion of various projects.
BEGINNER( Basic stitches learnt through simple 2D round and square projects)
INTERMEDIATE( Increasing and decreasing stitches, Circular and spiral patterns, Closing patterns learnt through 3D projects)
ADVANCED (Complex stitches like back loop, Projects using combination of all stitches learnt, Pattern reading)
Age: 9 – 16 yrs
Fees: Rs 3500 ( Beginner | Intermediate) Rs 4000 (Advanced)

About the Facilitators:
Roopa, a former IT professional, found her love for handwork while pursuing her Waldorf TeacherTraining course from Sadhana Indian Waldorf Kindergarten Association. She is primarily a Kindergarten teacher based out of Bangalore and finds great joy in teaching handwork across age groups. Her crochet toys can be found on her instagram page, Sattva Handworks.
Shakthi – a post graduate in management worked in the Corporate sector until she found her calling in an alternative education setup 7 years ago. Currently, she heads a Waldorf Kindergarten Section at a renowned school in Coimbatore. It is her tryst with Waldorf and her innate love for working with the hands, that led her to specialize in doll making, crochet, knitting, sewing and embroidery. It is in handwork that she finds herself, and not a day in her life passes without her hands creating beauty!
